Last month, the Auckland Pride Parade was held. Among the highlights was an Eltn John float, which one of the organisers told this Web site about.
Catherine Lawson was part of a group putting the Unitec Institute of Technology platform together. As the event’s theme was based on gods and monsters, Catherine said that Elton ”seemed an appropriate rock god to go with.”
So they had a student portraying Elton, whilst backing vocalists wore angel wings.
”The whole float was lit up and we had dancers at the front dancing to songs of Elton’s, and a grand piano made of perspex which was also all lit up,” the designer recalled.
”So the whole float looked pretty cool.”
This was Auckland’s third–and largest–such event.
