Now this is something else, here. REJ.World always has unusual as well as famous guests. But here we hear Dale DeBakcsy, author of the new book Elton John Album By Album, which is already out, analysing many of Elton’s songs. And I mean really analysing, chord by chord, note by note. Telling us the certain ways Elton has in his composing. I am just a fan, just listening to the music. I don’t have any kind of professional musical background, so I learned a lot here, just about the structure of music and new terms. Highly interesting!
There was this little funny commenting of the song I Am Your Robot in quite the beginning… guys, when I was young, I had that serial number from the song title printed on a t-shirt! Haha.
And mentions of songs which I even forgot existed, sorry, like Friends. These podcasts are great to hear or remember again songs which you haven’t heard in a long time.
I have to dive here into a few songs we get analysed. There had just been some talk about getting shivers, and then we get to hear Indian Sunset. Yes, I got shivers. This has always been an important song for me. And then a little bit later Someone Saved My Life Tonight, which is my number one Elton song ever. Thanks for these, it was great to hear some analysis for my favourite songs! Also, Paris is one of my favourites too. it is a beautiful song. Great lyrics, great melody.
There is this legendary singer in Finland called Katri Helena, she will turn 80 this year, and she is ending her long career. She recorded her last song ever a while ago, and it was the Finnish lyrics version of Circle Of Life. One ending there, and also in the end of this podcast, Circle Of Life. Almost tears here.
