So, I was going through the older Saturday Night”s Alright For Podcasting episodes, and listened the very first one with Charlie Morgan, the well known drummer from Elton’s band from the 80’s and 90’s.
He actually played with Elton in the Live Aid, I didn’t remember that. And he still has the same drum kit from that time, he used it in every Elton recordings he was on (except Ice on Fire, which was the first EJ album he played at). Must be great quality drums!
I’m not sure when this episode was recorded, but at least a couple of years back. Elton has been on his Farewell tour, and there’s also talk about the pandemic. I think most of us got it, I had it too, couldn’t go to work for two weeks. Luckily those times are over. But it is kind of funny to hear these “old” things now, and how things have changed in this short time. And like they are talking about future tour Charlie will be playing on, that has come and gone. I hope he is still playing!
I met Charlie, I think it was back in 1999. There was a fan club meeting in London I went to and he was there. Got his autograph too, it is somewhere in my archives still. He was a very nice person, I loved how he was just “a normal guy” there with us. Well, that was a long time ago, I was a young lady, now I have grey hair!
