For the first time in 31 years KC And The Sunshine Band is back in the Top 30 Billboard Dance Charts with I Love You More. And on the second of November, Harry Wayne Casey, better known as KC, will appear for the first time, with his group, at an Elton John AIDS Foundation fundraiser. He spoke with this Web site’s Chief Editor about the upcoming gala, and about his multiple accomplishments.

EJW: You will soon be playing the EJAF‘s Enduring Vision benefit in New York. Have you and Elton met before?

KC: We did–a long time ago, in the 70s.
I’m excited to be involved in something so close to Elton’s heart, and raising money for a good cause.

EJW: Do you have any ideas yet about what will be in the set list? Which number would you want to do with Elton if he joins you onstage?

KC: Probably Your Song, although [laughs] I’d have to learn the words!
I don’t know how long we’ll play, but we will certainly do all the hits.

EJW: You’ve had some of your music used in TV ads. Which ones are your favourites?

KC: I like Budweiser‘s, with Get Down Tonight; also Target, with Keep It Comin’ Love, and Kellogg’s Raisin Bran, which uses Boogie Shoes. They’re all good.

EJW: How about cameos?

KC: They’ve been fun. . . . The band performed in 2003’s In-Laws, and a couple of years before that, I had a really small role as a co-pilot in Longshot. Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears were also in it.

EJW: What are some of your future plans?

KC: We now have an album of covers called Feeling You! The 60s, including Stand By Me and You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling. We’ve finished 2 CDs of original music but I don’t know when these will be released.
And for the holidays, we have a Christmas album, containing a number of standards, along with four original songs.
