The Elton John AIDS Foundation‘s Academy Awards Viewing Party is taking place on Sunday, the second of March.
Another benefit will be held in San Diego, California, on 9 May. This one is on behalf of Curebound, which aims to prevent, treat and ultimately, prevent, cancer. It’s a cause the performer can identify with. Elton was successfully treated for prostate cancer, and discussed what he endured in his autobiography, Me.
Other Curebound concerts have been held at the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, with a capacity of 10,000. But organisers obviously expect a lot more attendees for Elton’s show. It has been moved to Petco Park, which holds four times as many people.
This won’t be the first time Elton has played here, as Petco Park was part of the Farewell Yellow Brick Road itinerary. The setlist included Crocodile Rock. But Elton told Troy Deeney that once his farewell tour wrapped up, he wouldn’t sing it again.

Good afternoon:
After seeing Elton twelve (12) times in concert since 1976, including solo with Ray Cooper, I think that Elton should include the following songs in the setlist for the San Diego concert:
‘Tiny Dancer’ , Your Song’, ‘Harmony’, ‘Candle In The Wind’, ‘Come Down In Time’, and maybe a few songs from the ‘Captian Fantastic and The Brown Dirt Cowboy’ album , since it’s the 50-year aniversary this May/June..
If the session players from the new album are peforming with Elton, then a few songs from the ‘Who Believes In Angels’ album/CD should definitely be performed at the concert.
That’s a good question Keith. Who will be Elton’s band at San Diego?
