As we speed ever closer to the 50th anniversary of Elton John’s landmark double album Blue Moves on the 22 October, we are delighted to announce a very rare interview with singer, pianist and actress, Toni Tennille.
Toni celebrates a 50th anniversary of her own, that of winning a Grammy award for a Neil Sedaka/Howard Greenfield penned song with her then husband Daryl Dragon, Love Will Keep Us Together.
We will hear about her contribution to Elton songs like Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me, as well as four Blue Moves songs and later Elton collaborations like Dear God from 21 at 33.
Toni talks about home life and candidly about her marriage to Daryl. And then there is that big admirer of hers, the former US Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger, whom she met (briefly) at the Bicentennial celebrations at the White House in the presence of HM Queen Elizabeth II, Duke of Edinburgh and Prime Minister Jim Callaghan on July 4th, 1976. Her act, Captain and Tennille were invited by President Gerald Ford and First Lady Betty Ford.
Toni is as entertaining speaking as she is performing musically, and be prepared for a thrill-a-minute! Plus Pinner showcase their latest song Blue Moves, 1976.
We have also tracked down a few videos that make this episode.
