Inspired by the losses of David Bowie and Prince, Ron Galella decided last year to create Rock & Roll, an encore to his three-volume pictorial encyclopedia of music called Pop, Rock & Dance in 2013.

Here, however, Galella showcases for the reader a curated selection of his favorite rock acts, showcasing over 130 images, making for a faster-paced compilation. Sir Elton is among the subjects.

Editor Anthony Miller tells EJW‘s Chief Editor:

”Elton John has one photo on the back cover, with four photos interior, and one of them is the well-known shot of Elton and Divine taken in 1978 at Studio 54. The others were taken 1975 and 1982 in New York, and 1978 in Westwood, California.”

Neal Preston has also been a photographer for decades. He has worked with rock royalty such as Elton, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, and Madonna. In 2015, his In The Eye of The Rock’n’Roll Hurricane, which included a photo of the Rocket Man, was published.

A follow-up is planned for the end of 2017, and the publisher has informed this Web site that more EJ images are being considered for this book.
