How can it be 50 years?! Well, it is, and here we have a podcast episode on Radio Elton John, which really makes it a party. As quests here are these two gentlemen, David Larkham, who worked as art director for Elton in the 70’s, and Miles Aldridge, who is son of Alan Aldridge, the artist who created the artwork of Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy album cover.

Well, I must say, that I remember when I got this album, I thought wow, such a crazy cover art! And then going through every little detail there, checking out what is happening in every corner. And now here in this episode it is really wonderful to learn more about this artist and hear all these stories about him. Like around this album time, 1975, Miles was a kid, about 10-11, and he can remember visiting Bernie Taupin’s house often with his father.

Also a really interesting story is about this concert of Elton’s, in June 1975, where Elton decided to play only the all songs of his new album. Not a very wise thing to do, he admitted. But both David Larkham and Miles were there, Miles with his sister and his father, and they got to visit the backstage and took photos with Elton etc. I must say I’m a bit envious! But also we get to hear live version of Someone Saved My Life Tonight from that concert, and once again, if I haven’t already mentioned, it is my favourite EJ song. So thanks for that. And I hear it was the only single from this album, that was new information for me!

Well, it is quite a long episode, so that when you get to the end, you have forgotten what they were discussing earlier… but it is also so highly interesting, that you just have to start again from the beginning!
