So, time for another episode of this podcast! This time we get to hear these Italian fans Andrea Grasso & Luca Perasi, who wrote the book Goodbye Yellow Brick Road – The Making of an Epic Album. Well my opinion, yes, really an epic one!
The book is really full of information about the album, says George here. I don’t have it (yet), but sounds very interesting. It’s been out since this summer. The authors tell us here a bit about the book, for example how it was quite a job to find information since it’s been a long time.
I like to hear about other fans, too. Andrea here appears to be quite near my age. He tells us his big thing to become an EJ fan was The One album. Well mine was Made in England. I did have a hit collection cassette in 1992 and it had the song The One, and I liked it a lot, but yet not enough to become a fan… then few years later it happened.
So we hear quite a few songs from the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album here, and hear interesting stories and information about them. The first song they chose to be played is Funeral for a Friend. This song has a special meaning to me, since it was the very first song (with Love Lies Bleeding) EJ played at the very first time I saw him live (back in 1998 in Helsinki Olympic Stadium). So I just love this song every time I hear it. And Love Lies Bleeding too… it is such a pure rock song.
This episode made me feel like I need to go back and listen to the Ian Beck episode, it must be interesting, since he was the cover illustrator of this album. Haven’t listened it yet.
So, it seems I have a book to order. Or maybe… every Christmas my family asks if I have any special wish for a Xmas gift, and I always tell them “not really”. Well, this could be that special wish! I can wait, it’s not THAT long time until Christmas.
So, with that, enjoy!
