Today, the 24 October 2025, marks two landmark events. It is the 50th anniversary of the release of Elton’s number one album Rock of the Westies. It is also the day selected to release the (belated) 50th anniversary edition of the seminal Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy.
In fact, Captain Fantastic marked 50 years on 19 May 2025. So today’s release of an array of formats plus litho and the 1975 Wembley Stadium gig are actually celebrating 50 1/2 years!
Radio Elton John celebrated the 50th anniversary of Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy in the summer, with artwork guests David Larkham and Miles Aldridge, son of Alan Aldridge.
