Elton John posted a statement to his fans via Instagram on Tuesday to update them about his health.
He explained that he has had an eye infection, sustained temporary vision loss and spent summer recuperating at his home.
Fans had been anxious about the radio silence from Elton and the dearth of summer holiday photos, a ritual each year.
The latest health setback has resulted in fans asking whether the new studio album will now be placed on hold – there had been talk of an announcement in September or October.
