There will be several sightings of Elton John look-a-like Raymond Johnson over the coming few weeks.
As reported on this website in March, the real Elton John was scheduled to be one of the special guests on BBC 1 TV satirical current affairs quiz Have I Got News For You in May.
According to reliable sources, we can advise that Ray will be one of the special guests on Have I Got News For You, although it is not confirmed whether the other guest panellist will be the real Elton.
Filming of the programme will be later on May 24, 2001. The programme will be televised on BBC 1 at about 9pm on Friday, May 25, 2001. Set your VCRs for this hit programme. I’m a major fan of quizmaster Angus Deayton – but was too nervous to beg for an audience ticket!
Meanwhile, Ray will also appear on BBC 1 TV’s consumer affairs programme Watchdog. Again, filming takes place on May 24, 2001, and Ray has been asked to walk the streets of a city and see what reaction he gets to his conspicuous Elton-ness. The programme will also be broadcast on Friday, May 25, 2001, on BBC 1.
And finally…(for now!) Ray will appear on snooker quiz programme Big Break on (yes, again) BBC 1 TV, on June 9, 2001.
Ray will join comedian presenter and Elton John fan Jim Davidson and the dead-pan snooker star John Virgo on the programme, which counts more balls than the number of balls in Elton’s jokes these days!
Psst…We also have inside news that funnyman Brian Conley (the star of theatre production Elton John’s Glasses) will be taking Ray abroad to some exotic and secret location for filming a charity event. We wish them well!

Raymond Johnson will grace funnyman Paul Merton’s team on Have I Got News For You, while the other team will be furnished by journalist Janet Street-Porter. We understand that means the real Janet – as much as one can ever be sure!
