Introducing a new series of independent reviews by a dedicated, decades-long Elton John fan, former Hercules Finland chief, Urpu Kallio of the Saturday Night’s Alright for Podcasting series of interviews available at rej.world

Meet Neil Sedaka, a long time artist and legend. It is very interesting to hear his stories and of course history with Elton John here.

I didn’t know too much of his career, but learned a lot about it here. You get to know how he met Elton in the 70s, and how Elton helped him to stage a comeback, after Sedaka was years off the charts. Elton also did some backing vocals for his comeback song, Bad Blood, that is cool. You hear about Elton’s label Rocket Records and producer Gus Dudgeon too.

Also presented is Mr. Sedaka’s three favourite Elton John songs. With a little twist! Well, one of them is a favourite of mine too, and probably many others, as George here expresses. Haven’t heard that one for some time and got a bit sentimental.

And it is nice to hear, how his parents helped Sedaka, when he was young and discovered he was gifted with music. Learning the classical side first, winning some competition too, but turning to pop music after all. Which is of course a good thing for us.

Family is important for him. And the gift has been inherited. You hear about family members with musical talent, especially his grandson. It was nice to hear about his career too.

After all, this was a really interesting discussion between George and Mr. Sedaka. A lot of new information, and I liked to hear some new music, well, new for me at least. I even had to go and listen some from youtube after listening to this. The sound quality of Mr. Sedaka’s comments is a bit low, make sure you have good listening conditions. Otherwise, enjoy!”
