Elton recently attended the world premiere of his documentary in Toronto, Canada. The end credits featured a new song he wrote with Brandi Carlile. Like the movie, it’s called Never Too Late: No connection to The Lion King’s Never Too Late.

At the event’s Q&A, director R.J. Cutler mentioned that both Elton and David Furnish would be making cameos in Rob Reiner‘s This is Spinal Tap sequel. Elton and his husband were not pleased, and media outlets pointed out Cutler’s ”slip,” but what’s the big deal? While David wasn’t mentioned, it had already been announced that Elton had been hired for Spinal Tap.

On 11 November, a Never Too Late screening and Q&A with R.J. is planned for the Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, New York. Tickets are $20 for members; $25 for non-members.

Before that, R.J., David, and Elton are expected to attend the American premiere of their film, on 1 October at Lincoln Center in New York City. As of press time, there were still VIP tickets available, which offer prime orchestra seats and access to a private reception. But ticket buyers should not assume they will see Elton at the party. A senior coordinator was unable to give us a yes or no–and that goes for anyone else affiliated with Never Too Late.

The documentary’s European debut is on 10 October, at the BFI London Film Festival, with another screening scheduled three days later. Then on the 13th of December, DisneyPlus is to present Never Too Late.

13 July 2025 is an important date, too. It marks the 40th anniversary of the Live Aid concerts. A special gala performance of the Live Aid musical, Just For One Day, is planned that day. It’s to be held at the Shaftsbury Theatre in London, England, where the production runs from 15 May 2025-10 January 2026.

Just For One Day previously was at another London establishment, the Old Vic Theatre. Producer Jamie Wilson said it became the Old Vic’s fastest-selling musical of all time.

Prior to its West End engagement, the musical is headed for the CAA David Mirvish Theatre in Toronto, Canada – from 28 January to 16 March, 2025. Wherever it plays, 10 percent from Just For One Day‘s ticket sales are donated to the Band Aid Charitable Trust. The set list includes tunes from Elton, Queen, the Who, and many others.

Elton has teamed up with Who guitarist Pete Townshend and his wife, composer Rachel Fuller Townshend, for their reinterpretation of Hermann Hesse‘s Siddhartha. The multimedia project includes a double album, The Seeker, with Elton among the guests. But he won’t be part of their live concert at Theatre Royal Lane in November.

Former footballer Paul Merson thinks it would be a good idea for Elton to perform on Strictly Come Dancing. Paul, who has rarely danced before (calling the show ”a whole new ball game”), suggested to the Radio Times that if he made the final, he’d ask his famous friend to sing on the BBC broadcast.

Elton is also on a Def Leppard singer’s wish list. Joe Elliott told Louder he’d love to do a duet with him.

Meanwhile, Elton has his eye on young artists he’d like to collaborate with. He shared his favourites–all women–with Variety, with Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Charli  XCX among his picks. Asked about Taylor Swift, Elton said she’s a great songwriter and artist, and a phenomenon. He hasn’t seen ”a phenomenon like that since the Beatles.”

And why not share what you’d like to see in the 100th edition of the Elton Blog (which isn’t so far off)?
