A landscape artist who was also known for reproducing scenes from Disney films such as The Lion King and Sleeping Beauty, died last month.

Now an autopsy has been concluded, and it has been announced that Thomas Kinkade had suffered an accidental overdose, after taking valium and alcohol.

The 54-year-old’s works were popular with collectors, but not with the art establishment.

His paintings generally depicted tranquil subjects, with many featuring images from passages of the Bible.

His brother has said Kinkade had battled alcoholism and had had a relapse before his death.
