In 1977, Terry Challis captured the breadth of Elton’s ambition for Watford in an allegorical painting, depicting the then chairman astride a giant hornet, pointing the way forward.

The pop singer was genuinely delighted with the painting because it captured the essence of his Watford dream.

Now the Watford Observer has a small number of posters available to buy for the minimal fee of £2.

They will be sold on a first come first serve basis and must be collected from the Watford Observer office on Caxton Way, Watford.
