A COUPLE were yesterday found dead inside a sports car spotted lying upside down in a field. Police said the husband and wife had probably been trapped overnight in their Jaguar XK8.
Officers were last night trying to discover how the pair’s £59,995 coupe spun off the M4 and hurtled down a bank. Firefighters took almost an hour to cut the bodies free.
The car was spotted at 5.30am by a lorry driver who raised the alarm.
The couple, from Surrey, were on their way home from a friend’s house in Newbury, Berks, when they crashed on the London-bound M4 near Maidenhead.
A police spokesman said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who saw the smash or saw the Jaguar being driven along the M4 beforehand.
“Both the occupants were dead when emergency services arrived at the scene of the tragedy.”
No other vehicle is thought to have been involved.
