Sir Elton will be on hand tonight to help mark World AIDS Day in Sydney.

He is to help light the sails of the Sydney Opera House a shade of red. Joining him will be Federal Transport Minister Anthony Albanese and NSW Health Minister Jillian Skinner. The special ceremony will take place at the Overseas Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay.

In related news, Elton has agreed to allow volunteers to collect money after his two shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on December 6 and 7 for the Victorian AIDS Council/Gay Men’s Health Centre.

Those taking part, from 10:15 p.m.-11:30 p.m., will be stationed at various venue exits, shaking buckets and collecting funds from fans as they leave the concert.
