On Sunday evening, George Michael did a concert in London to raise money for Elton’s AIDS foundation.

The singer took to the stage at the Royal Opera House for the black tie event in front of celebrity guests, including the Rocket Man himself.

Michael was 40 minutes late, but received rapturous applause from the audience when he finally started, and he thrilled Sir Elton by playing a cover of one of his older songs, Idol.

Proceeds from the gig–which netted nearly a million pounds–will go to the EJAF‘s Elizabeth Taylor Memorial Fund, created in honour of the late actress and philanthropist.
