Compared to last year’s ceremony, the Tony Awards were up 11% in households, 20% in adults 25-54, 18% in adults 18-49 and added 1.18 million viewers (from last years 6.27 million) an increase of 19% from last years broadcast.

Additionally,, in partnership with IBM, has reported that traffic to the site was up by 57% on the night.

Over 1,000 people gathered in Times Square to view the live Tony Awards simulcast. The event, in partnership with the Times Square Alliance and the City of New York, was hosted by WCBS-TV anchor Katie McGee, and four-time Tony nominee Tovah Feldshuh, and featured both a live broadcast of the pre-telecast Creative Art Awards as well as the CBS broadcast.

There was one unfortunate incident, though.

Bret Michaels, who performed with the Rock of Ages cast, fractured his nose following the performance.

Those watching the opening number may have noticed a backdrop descend on the rocker as he finished his song.

A spokesperson for Michaels mentioned that the singer also required three stitches to his lips. Michaels is “bruised up, but in good spirits,” was the report.

Following the opening number, the host joked that Michaels’ run-in with the scenery gave “a whole new meaning to headbanging.”
