Elton has spoken of his happiness at the choice of soapstar-turned-singer supporting him at his stadium gig in Perth next month.
Richard Fleeshman has been named as the support act for Eltons McDiarmid Park gig – a guest slot which has done a lot for the careers of the Scissor Sisters and James Blunt.
Elton remarked, I was delighted to offer Richard a slot on my summer stadium shows.
When I heard Neon, I couldnt believe how mature the record sounded and how developed and accomplished Richards songwriting is at such a young age.
Neon was Richards debut album released last year after he left long-running ITV soap Coronation Street.
The son of television actor David Fleeshman and former Brookside and Coronation Street actress Sue Jenkins had a few words about the Rocket Man as well.
Its an amazing honour. Elton has always been an idol of mine, but it is incredibly nerve-racking as well.
Im going to ease myself into it by doing some warm-up dates around the country before it. I cannot wait to go out there.
The Manchester native takes the McDiarmid Park stage prior to Elton on July 6, a week before the release of his brand new single Back Here, a track he wrote with Steve Robson, the man behind hits for Take That and James Morrison.
There are still some tickets available.
