Readers of this Web site probably remember the passing in December of a woman who was chief publicist for Rocket Records.

In later years, Ronnie Lippin was president of public relations firm The Lippin Group.

This leading entertainment, public relations and marketing firm was started by Ronnie and her husband, Richard.

Since the cause of the New York native’s death was breast cancer, Richard decided to create two programs in her name, dedicated to the cause.

They are the Ronnie Lippin/Tower Cancer Research Foundation Fellowship and the Ronnie Lippin Cancer Outreach Program at the Tower Cancer Research Foundation.

The Ronnie Lippin/Tower Cancer Research Foundation Fellowship conducts studies to find cures for cancer and to better understand the causes of the disease while the Ronnie Lippin Cancer Outreach Program at the Tower Cancer Research Foundation is devoted to providing the public with information about cancer and what loved ones need to know about the realities of dealing with patients and the medical world. Program elements currently being discussed include national surveys, symposiums, a speakers bureau and media outreach activities.

Introducing the cancer initiatives at a memorial service for his wife, Dick Lippin said that he and daughter Alexandra hope the programs will be of great benefit to many individuals and families in the future. The family, which has and will continue to devote considerable time and financial support to these initiatives, believes additional contributions will allow even more important work to be done in the areas of cancer research and public education.

Both programs are in association with the highly respected Tower Cancer Research Foundation. Headquartered in Beverly Hills, California, the Tower Cancer Research Foundation is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to finding more effective treatments to prevent, treat and, one day, cure cancer. The foundation conducts leading-edge clinical trials and develops treatment options for patients suffering from cancers or blood disorders.

Dr. Solomon I. Hamburg, president and CEO of the Tower Cancer Research Foundation, said the organisation is proud to recognise Mrs. Lippin in this way.

”We believe these new programs and continued research support will open new doors to patients and their families suffering from cancer.”

For further information on these programs, contact Pam Blattner at Tower Cancer Research Foundation by phone at 310-285-7242 or via e-mail to blattnerp@toweroncology.com.
