Folks have a chance to meet the ballet girls of Billy Elliot at New York City’s Bryant Park.

The first 50 people who show up to skate in a tutu will receive free skate rentals and the chance to see the show.

It takes place tomorrow, December 17, and is scheduled to run from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

And across the pond, in May of 2010, Billy Elliot the Musical will mark its 5th anniversary in the West End, although it has recently been announced that the celebration will actually take place on March 31, 2010 the date of the first preview performance.

To mark the Big Five, for the first time the producers are offering schools and youth groups an opportunity to stage the show themselves, with a version of the West End script specially written for children of all ages.

Songtime Theatre Arts is thrilled to be part of Billy Youth Theatre 2010, competing with other youth theatre productions with the chance to follow in Billys footsteps and perform in Londons West End.

Songtime has a Richmond-upon-Thames Billy Elliot show planned from April 6-10, 2010 at Richmond Theatre in Richmond-upon-Thames. The box office number is 0870 060 6651.

Another company, Staffordshire-based Stage Productions, is producing a youth version of the Elton/Lee Hall hit for Hanley’s Regent Theatre.

This is to take place in July.
