Yesterday Bernie Taupin turned 61, and EJW hopes he had a terrific celebration.

A good way to mark the occasion would be for Elton’s songwriter, who has also written for the likes of Willie Nelson, Courtney Love, Alice Cooper and Heart, to receive a recognition from the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame.

The Elton John Corporation blog points out that Elton and his lyricist were both inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992–but only the former was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame two years later.

While Elton was feted for being a performer, it might have made sense to induct Bernie as a Lyricist in the Non-Performers category, the same year that the Rocket Man was inducted.

Those who wish to nominate Taupin can email Terry Stewart, President of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum, at
