Album Covers Are Part of Museum’s Exhibit

During the 1960s and 1970s, the influence of Magrittes work on popular culture was wide spread. His imagery was frequently appropriated by or had a visible influence on advertising, album covers, and other type of commercial imagery at a time that coincided with the coming of age of a number of artists working today, including Elton. So it’s only fitting that a Los Angeles County Museum of Art exhibition about him include record jackets.

 Tickets for Magritte and Contemporary Art: The Treachery of Images can be purchased at 877 522-6225, or at LACMAs box office.

 Weekday fees for adults: $17.00; seniors (62+) and students with valid I.D. $14.00, and twilight (starting at 5 p.m.) are $12.00. On weekends: adults pay $20.00; seniors (62+) and students with valid I.D. $17.00; and twilight (starting at 5 p.m.) $15.00. Children 17 and under are always free.

In addition, the museum is offering an audio tour narrated by award-winning actor Pierce Brosnan and featuring narratives by John Baldessari, Jeff Koons, and several other contemporary artists. Tickets for the audio tour are weekdays: public $6, public twilight $5, members $5, members twilight $4, and weekends: public $7, public twilight $6, members $5, members twilight $4.

The show runs through March 4.
