As announced previously, Elton will be performing in November in Perth, Canberra and Sydney, marking the landmark 40th anniversary of the release of his smash single, Rocket Man (I Think It’s Going To Be A Long Long Time).
Tickets are now on sale for these concerts, and on Monday morning, tickets will be available for a fourth date Down Under, the Silverdrome, in Launceston.
The response to the original announcement of the luminary’s return to the region was so great, promoter Chugg Entertainment was getting calls from all corners of the country to bring Elton to their neck of the woods. Born and bred in Launceston, Michael Chugg thought it appropriate to add a hometown date to the tour run. He said, I couldnt be more excited about playing a part in bringing Elton to Launceston. He performed there solo a few years back and blew the crowd away I cant even imagine how big its going to be with his awesome band!
Elton will be supported by the 2CELLOS at all shows, and German chanteuse Schmidt in Canberra and Sydney only. Cellists Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser have done many other dates with Elton. Schmidt, who has not appeared with Elton before, is just 22, but already is being called a ”modern-day Marlene Dietrich.”
